Quota: 20 persons Admission: Free "Museum of Art on Wheels" is a moving art museum which tours to schools and the community. The Hong Kong Museum of Art has engaged on Saturdays local artists to host different art projects online and on site. Artist Choi Tak-yee identified Hong Kong signboards as a local signature. She extended the sign characters by merging traditional blue and green landscape techniques with local cityscape. Participants will be able to create their own signboard by fundamental Chinese painting skills.

From its origins as a thick-walled fortress that became an imperial palace, the Louvre has been transformed into an internationally renowned museum, which houses historical evidence of art and cultural development of France and the world, attracting visitors from around the globe. To commpliment the exhibition , the Hong Kong Heritage Museum will launch a series of education activities, introducing to audiences milestones of the Louvre and its collection in an interesting and innovative way. Eventually, both palaces became public museums. After centuries of transformation, the two museums are brimming with many interesting stories.
This guided tour will begin with the first Director-general of the Louvre, Vivant-Denon, opening the doors of time and space. Across hundreds of years, in different periods of the Louvre and the Forbidden City, key persons (played by professional actors) will vividly talk with participants, introducing the similar developments of the two French and Chinese palaces, along with interesting stories about cultural exchanges between France and China. Jean de la Fontaine, a great writer and renowned poet in the 17th-century France, will join "Inventing le Louvre: From Palace to Museum over 800 Years" exhibition! The programme instructor will be dressed as one of the exhibits – a marble sculpture of Jean de la Fontaine. He'll play "Mr Sculpture", hiding in a corner of the exhibition hall, quietly waiting for the participants to find him. Mr Sculpture, together with the museum ambassador, will share some of France's well known 17th-century fables with the participants, incorporating interactive elements to inspire the children to think.

The instructor will demonstrate the etching techniques with reference from collections in the Louvre and introduce other traditional French and Chinese printmaking techniques.
Part I (Workshop): The participants will visit the Hong Kong Open Printshop. The instructor will introduce the origins of etching and its development in Europe, together with art masters and people they influenced from the 15th to the 17th centuries. The instructor will then demonstrate how to draw and etch the images on the copperplate, and the participants will have the opportunity to create their own piece. Part II (Guided Tour): The instructor will lead the participants through the "Inventing le Louvre: From Palace to Museum over 800 Years" exhibition, helping them to appreciate the masterpieces on prints in the exhibition, and providing information about the works of the artists, along with behind-the-scene stories. |
