Hong Kong is the crossroads of East and West. From its humble beginnings as a cluster of villages, to the British colonial era, to its status today as one of the world's most cosmopolitan city, Hong Kong is a living, breathing hub of history and rich local heritage. Witness our history come to life at one of our city's greatest cultural treasures: our museums.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) runs 14 museums and 3 other cultural venues, each one unique in its focus. Broadly, they cover art, history and science. You will find a wide range of exhibitions at LCSD's museums and cultural venues to suit your interest. A museum guide for tourists "Enchanting Museums" will soon be available setting out a full list of museums and their focuses.

Most of our museums are conveniently located in the vicinity of tourist attractions and popular shopping and dining areas. Make the best use of your time in Hong Kong by following our recommended routings to visit the museums and other interesting spots nearby.;
