Once lost but now found
Oi! is housed in the former Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, which stood on the waterfront when it was opened in 1908. This Grade II historic building is the only building remaining from the original North Point coastline of the 1930s before reclamation. The link between Oi! and the sea has long been established.

The coastline witnesses the changes of the times and the development of the red-brick complex of Oi! in the community. Local artists Leung Chi-wo, Zheng Bo, and local art group MAP Office (Laurent Gutierrez and Valérie Portefaix) are invited to response to the environment and location of the venue, thus creating artworks to tell stories with the elements of a city by the sea.

Porcelain and Painting
Friendship is the close relation between two persons as determined by time and place. The close friendship of Chao Shao-an and Yang Shanshen, two masters of the Lingnan School of painting, brought about not only the meeting of minds but also led to the creation of interesting works of art.

Both Chao and Yang settled in Hong Kong in the 1940s, and they often met together in the Lingnan Art Studio, and they have spent their leisure and created joint paintings. When they made friends with the owner of the Yuet Tung China Works, Tso Wing-shui, they tried their hands at painting on porcelain using their own artistic style. This exhibition features, in phases, more than 40 pieces of their joint works on paper and on pocelain created in 1950s along with the products made by the Yuet Tung China Works from 1960s to 1980s. Visitors will see how the two masters carried out their artistic dialogue in these works, and how they brought their own signature style from works on paper into works on porcelain.
