Museum Inside Out Activity Series

Junk! Woodworking - Adopt A Log Brainstorming Session
With fallen wood, how can we explore the use of seemingly useless things? We often come across lots of trees in our daily life and in nature. Last year tens of thousands trees were swept by Typhoon Mangkhut, leaving behind many tree waste on the streets in the City. Have these fallen wood pieces now become absolute waste? Useless? Useful! Wasted? Not wasted! This programme will include a sharing hosted by special guests and a wood craft workshop led by local artists to explore different ways of reusing the junk wood pieces in the spirit of making use of the useless. After the workshop, participants can take their works home as souvenir, and join the brainstorming session of "Adopt a Log" school project!

About History - Hong Kong University in Clouds of War
Have you ever thought that people and events taking place at the campus of the Hong Kong University (now called the University of Hong Kong) during the Second World War can be a critical piece of puzzle in the wider record of the story of Hong Kong? Having himself done pathfinding work on this topic, Dr Fung Chi-ming, Assistant Curator of Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence, will take you on a campus walk at the University to reminisce on this story, the former lives of heritage buildings, and the events that took place there.
