About Us

About Us 關於我們

Museums collect, conserve and exhibit their collections for the purpose of education and providing enjoyable and inspiring experiences. They also conduct extensive researches. Through museums collections, we discover a composite picture of our culture, history, and natural heritage. Preserving these endowments represent a vital long-term commitment to current and future generations.

Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government runs 14 museums and 3 other cultural spaces, each one unique in its focus. Broadly, these museums cover art, history and science.

Our vision is to offer inspiring experiences in art, history and science to be enjoyed by all. By preserving cultural legacy that is accessible, we hope to provide a lifelong learning platform for the community to foster their imagination and creativity.

We pursue our vision with professionalism, creativity, passion and integrity. Our core values are openness and a people-oriented culture. Apart from having Museum Expert Advisors to render professional advice on collection items, special research projects and programmes, the Museum Advisory Committee has been established to advise LCSD on strategic matters relating to the development of the museums.

In an effort to increase our public transparency, Corporate Business Plan 2017-22 & Annual Plans 2017-18 and the annual report of LCSD museums have been published. By sharing our cultural heritage, LCSD museums play an important role in showcasing the diversity of Hong Kong as an international city.
