Conservation Clinic

You may have family treasures that capture lots of valuable memories, but sadly they are deteriorating over time. Do you know how to preserve the items? Pay a visit to the Conservation Clinic launched for the first time. You can consult specialist conservators for free advice on the condition and care of your Chinese painting and calligraphy, archival document, photograph, silverware and coin. After a 15-minute consultation, you will have another 30-minute "clinical" practice under the guidance of conservators.

Behind-the-Scene of Film Conservation

The workshop will enable you to learn more about film conservation work that is rarely shown. Apart from learning different carriers of film, such as celluloids and magnetic hard drives for digital films, and common damages of film stock, you will also be able to see for yourself film repair equipment and the process of film inspection and repair, and have a glimpse of the daily work of film conservators.

Space Theatre Lecture "Getting to Know the Deep Sky"

With its advanced astronomical database, the digital planetarium system in the Stanley Ho Space Theatre is capable of computing the motion of celestial bodies in real-time to simulate the night sky and take you on a journey around the universe. This lecture utilizes the powerful features of the planetarium system to introduce the Messier objects and explore the deep sky.

Behind-the-Scene Tour "Dream Works of Exhibition"

Exhibition design is an integral part of museum work. Behind-the-Scene Tour of Energy Machine

Energy Machine is the largest exhibit of the Hong Kong Science Museum and it has been operated for more than 24 years since the opening of the museum. The “Doctors”in the museum have spent a lot of efforts to ensure the exhibit in good condition. Through the visit of the control center of the exhibit, participants are able to learn more about its structure and operation.
