Introduction
Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the Museum Volunteer Scheme (MVS) 2024-2026 aims to:
- Promote LCSD museums through the volunteer scheme
- Enhance public engagement in heritage and museums activities
- Engage the public as important stakeholders
- Leverage on community resources to support LCSD museums, so as to enhance museum services and visiting experience
- Provide opportunities for volunteers to show their talents, share their knowledge, enhance inclusivity and contribute to society
Service Scope
The volunteers will be invited to perform a variety of tasks:
- Education programmes
To assist in fixed-point docent services, workshops, survey, etc.
- Specialist support
To assist in database, records, collections or exhibits management (register and checking), documentation (proofreading and translation), etc.
- Mega events support
E.g. Muse Fest, Museum Summit, community outreach, etc.
- Marketing and Promotion
To assist in the promotion of museum culture, especially through social media, Youth Cultural Ambassador, etc.
- Customer service enhancement
To provide additional support to enhance museum service
Important Dates
- Application period: 1 March - 9 April, 2024 (12 noon)
- Interview invitation: The Secretariat will notify the qualified applicants to attend a face-to-face interview by 29 April, 2024.
- Result announcement: May – June 2024
