Change and renewal are inevitable events that take place in our life journey from time to time, filling our stories with twists and turns. That happens to the museums as well. Under the theme "Curating the New", the latest Muse Fest HK will take you on a journey to explore how the museums have undergone and displayed transformations. Through participation, we hope you can create new experience with us.
To kick start the festival, the "Summer Tea Party - Tea in the Garden" will refresh your experience about Chinese tea culture in a contrasting Western context. Taking place at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, the first Western architecture built in Hong Kong, the Tea Party has invited secondary school students fond of tea culture to serve tea to participants. You can also join the "Travelling in Time" special guided tour to explore the history and development of the museum.
While everyday life is a cycle of new creation, have you ever thought that fear can be a significant obstacle to keep you from growth and development? The "Phobia Party", jointly organised by the Hong Kong Science Museum and the Science Centre Singapore, will help you explore the faces of fear from scientific perspectives. Don't hesitate! Come and take the challenges!
Breathing is not only a vital sign of life but also a basic requirement for renewal and growth of a human body. The "Breathe in • Breathe out" exhibition and performance of vA! (Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre) will take you on an intrinsic journey through which you can take a deep breath in your inner self and attain true tranquility.
The Museum Inside Out Activity Series will also give you "new" experience of learning. The programmes include the "Urban Walk with Curators" Activity Series. Curators will go into the community with you to find the natural exhibits of art, history or science around us. And "Junk! Woodworking - Adopt A Log Brainstorming Session" invites innovative thinking from the community to make use of the useless.
Colourful exhibitions featured at the festival include "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series - A History of the World in 100 Objects from the British Museum" exhibition organised by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. One hundred sets of objects on display show the boundless creativity of mankind that pushed for the development and civilisation of the world in the past two million years. The "Winter Games" exhibition at the Hong Kong Science Museum allows you to learn the science of winter sports in a fun way through engaging stations and virtual reality experience.
To tie-in with the reopening of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, an annex project of the Muse Fest - "Listening" - will be launched to bring in new dynamics. A "Listening Lab" will be built for public engagement.
Through 100 fabulous programmes and activities, the Muse Fest HK vividly demonstrates how the museums have transformed and to connect people's lives, offering participants a world where they can absorb inspirations for changes.
