TALK

"Reading with Curators" Talk Series
Reading Art • Reading Life

Whenever a prominent exhibition is organised, an illustrative catalogue, and sometimes a research study report, would be produced by the museum as an extension of the exhibition. Containing essays and descriptive exhibit images, exhibition catalogues open up another world for readers to explore and study the artefacts and different topics covered in the exhibitions. To enhance appreciation of art and encourage in-depth study of culture and history, we have organised "50% Off Selected Museum Publications". And different talks under the "Reading with Curators" Talk Series will also be organised with curators from different museums and guest speakers invited to share with you their special recommendation of books and interesting stories.

"Reading Art • Reading Life" is the first talk of this series. Passionate in Chinese calligraphy and paintings, Szeto Yuen-kit, the Chief Curator of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, will lead you to taste the fun of reading art in catalogues by sharing the interesting stories, history and techniques behind the handscrolls, hanging scrolls, album leaves and fans selected from the Xubaizhai collections. Dr Raymond Tang, the Former Curator of the museum, will lead you on a journey of the Tempting Touch – the Art of Tong King-sum, in which you will feel the warmth of art and see a beautiful life of the artist.

The talk will be conducted at the Hong Kong Museum of Art and online live on "Visit HK Museums" YouTube and Facebook will also be available. The links to accessing the online live will be posted on the "Visit HK Museums" YouTube and Facebook on the day of the event, you may watch the online live by clicking the links, so make sure you like and subscribe us to get yourself updated about our programme!
