Museum Volunteer Scheme

Introduction

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the Museum Volunteer Scheme (MVS) aims to:

  • Promote LCSD museums through the volunteer scheme
  • Enhance public engagement in heritage and museums activities
  • Engage the public as important stakeholders
  • Leverage on community resources to support LCSD museums, so as to enhance museum services and visiting experience
  • Provide opportunities for volunteers to show their talents, share their knowledge, enhance inclusivity and contribute to society

 

Service Scope

The volunteers will be invited to perform a variety of tasks:

  • Education programmes
    To assist in workshops, survey, etc.
  • Specialist support
    To assist in database, records, collections or exhibits management (register and checking), documentation (proofreading and translation), etc.
  • Mega events support
    E.g. Muse Fest, Museum Summit, community outreach, etc.
  • Marketing and Promotion
    To assist in the promotion of museum culture, especially through social media, Youth Cultural Ambassador, etc.
  • Customer service enhancement
    To provide additional support to enhance museum service
  • Fixed-point Guided Tour Services
    To provide fixed-point guided tours of highlight exhibits, thereby enhancing the exhibition content and enriching the audience experience. Latest Fixed-point guided tour services (Jul – Sep 2026) * includes:
