Sea Expedition: Threats to the Marine Ecosystem

Plastic waste causes significant pollution when it enters the ocean and poses a major threat to marine ecosystems. Marine animals are likely to accidentally ingest plastic, leading to chronic toxicity. Additionally, plastic waste gradually degrades in the ocean, breaking down into smaller microplastic particles. Once these particles enter the food chain, the entire ecosystem becomes contaminated. In other words, even humans are susceptible to their effects. Therefore, it is vital for everyone to help save our oceans by starting with our daily lives, and reducing the use of signle-use plastics.
